Part 2 : The Boy Who Asked for Nothing

Really looked at him.

And then—

“Dad.”

Clear.

Soft.

Real.

The room exploded into gasps and tears.

The father dropped to his knees, pulling her into his arms, shaking with emotion.

“You’re talking… you’re talking…” he kept repeating, as if he couldn’t believe it.

Then suddenly—

he remembered.

The boy.

He turned.

“Wait—”

But the boy was already walking away.

“Stop!” the father called out. “You said you could do it—and you did! Take it! Take everything! It’s yours!”

The boy paused.

But he didn’t turn around immediately.

When he finally did—

there was something different in his eyes.

Something deeper.

“I don’t want anything,” he said.

The father stared at him, confused.

“Why?” he asked. “Why would you do this for nothing?”

The boy looked at the girl.

Then back at the man.

And for the first time…

his calm expression softened.

“Because,” he said quietly,
“three years ago… when I couldn’t speak…”

the father’s breath caught—

“…you paid for my surgery.”

Silence fell again.

Heavy.

Unbelievable.

The father shook his head slowly.

“I… I don’t remember…”

The boy smiled gently.

“I know,” he said.
“You didn’t stay long enough to meet me.”

The father’s eyes filled again.

“Then how did you—”

The boy took a small step back.

“My mom told me,” he said.
“She said a man saved my voice… and disappeared before anyone could thank him.”

The father couldn’t speak.

For the first time in his life—

he had no words.
